Black Bear Diner is now hiring Hosts and Cashiers for the new Murrieta location. This position is ideal for motivated individuals who possess great interpersonal skills and a genuine desire to deliver front-of-house excellence. Hosts and Cashiers at the diner serve as the first and last points of contact with guests, making the first impressions and final interactions crucial to the overall dining experience. These roles require employees to be highly personable, organized, and efficient under pressure.
These frontline team members greet and seat guests warmly and promptly, taking into account special seating requests and balancing guest flow among sections of the restaurant to optimize service. They manage waitlists, give accurate wait time estimates, and call guests when tables become available. Hosts maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the entrance, lobby, dining room, and restrooms, reinforcing the welcoming ambiance that Black Bear Diner is famous for.
Cashiers play a crucial role by handling take-out orders, entering orders into the point-of-sale system accurately and efficiently, processing payments promptly, and ensuring the correct closing of checks. Both Hosts and Cashiers assist servers and kitchen staff as needed by restocking service stations, transporting bus tubs, cleaning and resetting tables and seating areas, and performing general side work at the beginning and end of each shift. Job Duties
- Greet all arriving guests warmly and promptly
- accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible
- seat guests based on guest preferences and balancing of customer flow in service stations
- when immediate seating is limited, record guest names and number of people in party
- provide guests with estimated waiting time
- call out name and number of party when tables become available
- upon seating, offer guests a menu
- inspect table for proper presentation and completeness
- relay messages to servers as needed
- maintain clean entrance, lobby, dining room, and restrooms
- assist servers in maintaining and stocking service stations
- transport bus tubs with dirty dishes to dish room if needed
- clean and reset tables promptly
- clean chairs, booths, and surrounding carpet
- take food and beverage orders from guests requesting take out service
- enter orders in point-of-sale system
- process payments correctly and efficiently
- close checks
- thank guests for their visit and invite them to return
- perform side work at the start and end of each shift as assigned
- be available to fill in as needed to ensure smooth operation of the restaurant
