Job Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) stands as the world's most comprehensive and widely adopted cloud platform, renowned for pioneering cloud computing innovation. Serving a diverse range of customers from fledgling startups to Global 500 companies, AWS provides a robust suite of cloud products and services that power business operations globally. AWS prides itself on fostering an inclusive and innovative culture where curiosity, diversity, and continuous learning are deeply embedded into the workplace ethos. With a strong commitment to work-life balance, mentorship, and career growth, AWS aims to be Earth's Best Employer by supporting its employees professionally and personally.

This role centers around becoming an integral part of the AWS data center operations as a Regional Safety Engineer responsible for the health and safety management within a specific geographical area. The position is pivotal in ensuring that AWS data center environments, which operate on complex electrical and mechanical infrastructure, remain compliant with health and safety standards while promoting and advancing a world-class safety culture. You will be collaborating daily with data center engineers who work with electrical switching equipment, large-scale air handling mechanical systems, and critical IT hardware. This team-based role involves close coordination with experts across multiple disciplines including security, construction, operations, logistics, compliance, and human resources to reinforce safety programs globally.

The Regional Safety Engineer is tasked with implementing health and safety policies and practices, managing safety management systems, conducting training, performing risk assessments, and assisting with industrial hygiene evaluations. Key responsibilities include conducting audits at data centers and active construction sites to ensure compliance with both health and life safety requirements and spearheading the development of health and safety emergency plans tailored to on-site needs. Ensuring accurate safety record keeping and analyzing safety data trends to influence leadership decisions is also critical to the role.

As AWS continues to expand its data capacity, the Regional Safety Engineer collaborates with construction managers to proactively identify and mitigate risks before live operations commence. This role demands adaptability in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment where the introduction of new infrastructure, tools, products, and processes requires advocating for safety-first approaches. Additionally, this position includes day-to-day engagement with both employees and contractors, delivering safety guidance and fostering an evolving safety culture.

The position is located in Dallas, Texas, with a salary range of $74,200 to $129,800 annually. The compensation package also includes sign-on bonuses and restricted stock units (RSUs), comprehensive health insurance coverage, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave among other benefits. AWS enthusiastically encourages applications from diverse candidates, emphasizing that non-traditional career paths or alternative experiences are welcomed. The company maintains an inclusive hiring approach and provides necessary accommodations during the application and onboarding process.
