Job Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • work in a standing position in the dining facility and kitchen area for 6 to 7 hours excluding break and lunch periods
  • some bending and stooping
  • occasional movement inside the office to access file cabinets and office machines
  • constant operation of computer and other office productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine, fax machine and computer printer
  • must be flexible with scheduled working times
  • complies with OSHA requirements, labor laws, HACCP standards, and company policies
  • able to manage workforce fairly and consistently
  • willingness to accept reassignment of duties as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Strong culinary background with ability to stay current with new culinary trends
  • great leadership and communication skills with ability to maintain high standards and implement company policies
  • certificate in food handling or sanitation methods, or ServSafe certified preferred
  • good customer service skills
  • demonstrated history of related food service experience preferably with a major institution or the military with high volume food production

Job Duties

  • Prepares and cooks to order foods requiring short preparation time
  • reads food order or receives verbal instructions on food required by patron and prepares and cooks food according to instructions
  • performs fast food cooking duties in preparing food items to be served to customers
  • provides the highest quality of service to customers
  • follows basic recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs
  • operates kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, wash, peel, cut and shred fruits and vegetables, and trim and cut meat, poultry, or fish for culinary use
  • tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and keeps records to plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
  • may select recipes per menu cycle, prepare bakery items, receive inventory, move and lift foodstuffs and supplies and prepare meals for customers requiring special diets
  • cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment, follows all company, client and regulatory rules and procedures
  • conducts nightly, weekly, and monthly inventory
  • places orders for food and supplies
