Their expert service, combined with culinary creativity and a personal touch, helps foster an environment where students thrive. As part of Elior North America, the company is deeply committed to diversity, inclusion, and the professional growth of its employees, making it an excellent place to work for those passionate about food service and education.

The role of Head Chef at Elior Independent School Dining in Tacoma, Washington, is a full-time, onsite position offering a competitive wage of $27 per hour. This role is crucial in overseeing the culinary operations of various school dining locations and catering services. The Head Chef will be responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising all culinary activities to ensure high standards of food quality and safety are maintained. This includes menu planning that takes into account market trends, customer preferences, and nutritional requirements, with a particular emphasis on accommodating food allergies and intolerances commonly encountered in a school environment.

This position demands a seasoned culinary leader capable of directing and coordinating kitchen staff while collaborating with district managers and other departments. The ideal candidate will have a certification from a recognized culinary institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience, along with at least three years of experience in culinary management. ServSafe certification is required, and experience with ordering and catering logistics is highly valued. Additionally, the role requires flexibility to work effectively with children and school administration, and a background in pastry and large batch, from scratch cooking is a plus.

The company prides itself on providing a supportive work environment where employees' skills are nurtured and developed. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, voluntary insurance offerings, a discount program, commuter benefits, an employee assistance program, 401k plan, sick time, holiday pay for nine paid holidays, tuition reimbursement for full-time employees, and paid time off.

Elior North America also enforces equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or veteran status, fostering a culture that values diverse backgrounds and abilities.
