The General Manager (GM) role at Thorntons is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of store operations. The GM is tasked with managing the business to ensure guests enjoy a consistent and delightful experience every time they visit. In this role, the GM is also responsible for promoting a culture of safety by adhering to strict procedures and encouraging a work environment where safety is prioritized. They ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations to maintain a safe and healthy workplace. The GM drives the execution of store operational plans, manages inventory levels, and oversees food production and safety practices to maintain product quality and consistency. Additionally, the GM works closely with the community to support local events and initiatives that strengthen the brand’s presence.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum three years single-unit management experience in retail or food and beverage industries
- Must have reliable transportation
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Ability to obtain food safety and handling certification if not possessed upon hire
- Ability to climb ladders and perform physical tasks such as standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, squatting, climbing, walking, and lifting up to 55 lbs
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products
- Regular and predictable in-person attendance
- Must comply with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to safety and operations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum three years single-unit management experience in retail or food and beverage industries
- Experience with PeopleMatter, Workday, Reflexis, PDI, ESO applications a plus
- Food safety and handling certifications preferred
- Ability to train and develop team members
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and leadership abilities
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment
Job Duties
- Drive a safety culture by ensuring a clean, organized, and safe environment for all team members and guests
- Create a place of welcoming and belonging for guests and team members
- Oversee daily execution of the Store Operating System through management of game plans
- Grow top line P&L performance and control key financial lines
- Track and manage inventory through count execution and submitting accurate orders
- Delegate tasks to subordinate team members and follow up to ensure proper completion
- Oversee food production to ensure food safety requirements are met
- Develop well trained team members through training, coaching, and recognition
- Recruit, interview, hire and schedule team members
- Train and empower team members to de-escalate guest service issues
- Communicate positively to motivate and inspire team members
- Comply with all inspections and maintain necessary records
- Promote sales and profits through community partnerships
- Perform additional duties as assigned
