The role of General Manager at Blank Street is instrumental in driving the success and growth of individual store locations. General Managers are entrusted with full ownership of their store’s operations, leading the team to meet and exceed operational, financial, and quality goals. This leadership position involves managing all aspects of store performance including hiring and training staff, maintaining high standards of product quality and customer experience, and overseeing inventory control and vendor relations. General Managers act as both leaders and practitioners by spending a significant portion of their time working behind the bar, demonstrating a passion for coffee and customer service, and fostering a collaborative and motivating team environment.

As a General Manager, you will be responsible for recruiting and developing talent, ensuring the team is well-trained in specialty coffee preparation and customer service excellence, and maintaining compliance with company policies and labor laws. You will also play a key role in driving business growth through creative initiatives aimed at increasing sales and enhancing local brand loyalty by engaging with neighborhood businesses and customers. Operational excellence is a priority, and you will ensure your location meets all audit standards, drives peak throughput during busy periods, and continually improves through data-informed action.

This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $75,000 annually, reflective of the candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as a comprehensive benefits package. The General Manager role at Blank Street is ideal for a hospitality professional with over four years of experience managing fast-paced single-unit operations who is passionate about coffee culture and creating exceptional customer experiences. The job requires availability for 45 hours per week including two peak weekend days. Job Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience managing and leading single-store unit operations in high growth hospitality or consumer brands
  • Full time availability: 45 hours per week, 5 days of availability required and must be available to work 2 peak days (usually weekend days, weekend as described as Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

Job Qualifications

  • Experience hiring, developing and managing hospitality teams
  • Experience managing inventory and supply chain ordering
  • Strong knowledge of specialty coffee, espresso and equipment
  • Strong decision making and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is a plus
  • Passion for coffee and customer service

Job Duties

  • Create a motivating and engaging team culture by consistently celebrating, training, coaching, and mentoring your team
  • Step in to cover scheduling gaps or time off in the store schedule
  • Create and publish staff schedules according to state and local labor laws
  • Review and approve timecards and paid time off requests in a timely manner ensuring your team is paid accurately and on time
  • Recruit super star talent in collaboration with the People Team
  • Oversee and validate the quality of training being executed by your Shift Leads, providing feedback and coaching where needed
  • Ensure coffee accreditations are handled on time for new employees in line with company standards
