Job Description

Position Summary

The Restaurant Floor Manager oversees daily front-of-house (FOH) operations to ensure excellent guest experiences, smooth service flow, and effective coordination between staff and management. This role maintains high standards of hospitality, cleanliness, and team performance during each shift.

Key Responsibilities Guest Experience
  • Greet guests and ensure exceptional hospitality throughout service.

  • Address guest complaints or special requests promptly and professionally.

  • Monitor dining room flow to minimize wait times and optimize table turnover.

  • Maintain restaurant ambiance, cleanliness, and atmosphere.

Staff Leadership & Supervision
  • Lead, supervise, and motivate servers, hosts, bussers, runners, and bartenders.

  • Conduct pre-shift briefings to communicate menu updates, specials, and priorities.

  • Provide ongoing coaching, training, and feedback to FOH staff.

  • Support new team members during onboarding and training.

Service Operations
  • Oversee table assignments, seating flow, and server sections.

  • Ensure staff follow service standards, safety procedures, and hygiene protocols.

  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to maintain communication and service timing.

  • Manage reservation systems, walk-ins, and large-party accommodations.

Administrative & Shift Duties
  • Assist with scheduling and managing FOH labor costs.

  • Handle cash-outs, POS oversight, and end-of-shift reporting.

  • Monitor inventory of service items (menus, silverware, linens, etc.).

  • Enforce company policies and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous FOH supervisory or management experience in a restaurant.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Excellent customer-service and hospitality mindset.

  • Ability to stay calm and organized in fast-paced, high-pressure situations.

  • Familiarity with POS systems, reservation software, and service procedures.

  • Food safety or alcohol service certifications (e.g., ServSafe) are a plus.
