Job Description
Uline is a family-owned company and North America's leading distributor of shipping, industrial, and packaging materials. Employing over 9,800 people across 14 locations, Uline has built a strong reputation for its extensive product range and dedication to exceptional customer service. The company operates with a commitment to providing a safe, productive, and modern work environment for its employees, emphasizing innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement throughout its operations. The Wisconsin Distribution Center in Pleasant Prairie, WI, is one of Uline's premier facilities, tailored with cutting-edge technologies and designed to maintain the highest standards of efficiency and safety in distribution operations.
The role of Facilities Manager at Uline's Wisconsin Distribution Center involves overseeing the operations of multiple buildings totaling over 3 million square feet, encompassing a dynamic and expansive workspace. As Facilities Manager, you will play a vital leadership role, guiding and directing a team of more than 20 facilities staff members, ensuring smooth, safe, and effective facility operations. This position requires a strategic focus on long-term planning, budget management, capital project oversight, and maintenance supervision that aligns with both corporate and distribution center leadership goals. The Facilities Manager will work closely with various departments to build policies and procedures that promote operational excellence and the well-being of all site personnel.
This position demands hands-on expertise in areas such as plumbing, construction, fire protection, HVAC systems, electrical systems, landscaping, and the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems. The manager is expected to conduct regular inspections of buildings, sites, and equipment to prevent downtime and ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards. Responding promptly to emergency maintenance and troubleshooting requests is also a critical part of the role.
Beyond technical proficiency, the Facilities Manager at Uline fosters a workplace culture that inspires productivity and pride among team members and across the site. Working at this level requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and vendor relationship management experience to oversee contractor engagements effectively. This role is on-site and offers the unique opportunity to lead facility operations in a best-in-class environment equipped with modern amenities including a first-class fitness center and well-maintained walking trails.
In sum, this Facilities Manager position is ideal for a seasoned professional who is ready to contribute to the ongoing success of Uline's distribution operations by ensuring facility excellence and team development. Uline is committed to maintaining a drug-free work environment, so all new hires must complete a pre-employment hair follicle drug screening. The company is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer and places a premium on inclusive hiring practices.
