Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • two to four years of supervisory or management experience in a high-volume kitchen
  • ability to manage kitchen operations and inventory
  • strong communication skills
  • physically able to carry or lift up to 75 pounds
  • able to move safely about the kitchen
  • handle food and utensils effectively
  • capable of bending, stooping, standing and kneeling
  • able to withstand temperature changes in work area

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • culinary arts courses, certifications or related degree preferred
  • two to four years of experience supervising and/or managing kitchen staff in a high-volume kitchen
  • confident in cooking skills and abilities
  • attention to detail
  • good people management and communication skills
  • proven leadership and team communication abilities
  • flexibility and adaptability to change
  • demonstrated time management and organizational skills
  • internally motivated and passionate about teaching others

Job Duties

  • Control the day-to-day culinary operations of the venue including staffing and policy adherence
  • maintain kitchen cleanliness and professional appearance standards
  • update and document costing and preparation of all dishes
  • establish procedures and timing for conducting inventory
  • ensure proper storage, security, and replenishment of food and kitchen supplies
  • maintain kitchen equipment and cleanliness in compliance with health department standards
  • resolve employee conflicts, customer issues, and stock order problems
  • motivate and rally staff during busy shifts
  • interact with guests to resolve service concerns
  • maintain consistent product and service quality
  • control food costs through inventory and financial reporting
  • communicate cooking standards and orders clearly
  • ensure a safe working environment
  • organize work schedules, shipments, and cleaning duties
  • recruit, interview, hire, and supervise kitchen staff
  • train employees ongoingly
  • lead by example and mentor new staff
