The role of Executive Chef within Mina Group’s Restaurant Excellence Team is a crucial leadership position designed for those with a passion for culinary mastery and team development. This role involves stepping in to provide culinary leadership across various Mina Group restaurants, especially during times of management shortages or transitions. The Executive Chef will be responsible for supervising, training, and coordinating operations during new restaurant openings and supporting existing establishments to ensure consistency and excellence.
This full-time position requires candidates to reside in local markets where Mina Group restaurants are currently operating, allowing for a hands-on approach and direct engagement with the team and guest experiences. The role offers a competitive salary ranging from $90,000 to $110,000 annually, providing a strong incentive for highly skilled culinary leaders.
The Executive Chef will serve as a mentor and hands-on leader in the kitchen, adaptable to dynamic environments while maintaining an impeccable standard of food quality, service, and sanitation. The individual will lead all culinary operations, shaping seasonal menus and specials that reflect the creativity and standards of the brand. Collaboration with general management, corporate culinary leadership, and operations teams is key to driving sustained growth and operational success.
Key responsibilities include managing financial and labor costs, inventory control, conducting quality assurance, and fostering a positive working environment that prioritizes employee retention and guest satisfaction. The Executive Chef will also play a pivotal role in developing an internship program that champions diversity, education, and discipline, while actively engaging in team development through performance management, mentorship, and ongoing training.
Applicants must bring exceptional communication and organizational skills, a gracious spirit of hospitality, and intellectual curiosity paired with emotional maturity. A commitment to staff development, maintaining cleanliness, organization, and leading by example in the kitchen is essential. Proven culinary expertise encompassing knife skills, butchery, sauce preparation, and kitchen station management is required.
This position demands a strong financial acumen, including the ability to analyze data efficiently and make informed decisions that optimize operational performance. The role requires a desire to teach, mentor, and grow both personally and professionally alongside the team and culinary interns. Candidates should have at least six years of experience in high-volume fine dining kitchens, including a minimum of two years in leadership roles. While a culinary degree is preferred, candidates with equivalent experience and skills are encouraged to apply.
Additional requirements include knowledge of safety and hygiene protocols, familiarity with human resources principles and labor laws, and physical stamina to lift up to 40 pounds and work in excess of 40 hours per week. Spanish language skills are a plus but not mandatory.
The position involves extensive travel to various Mina Group restaurants to provide leadership support during managerial transitions and new openings. Travel schedules are determined by the needs of the business. The Restaurant Excellence Team (REX) provides a structured pathway for leadership development, with an expectation for members to secure full-time leadership roles within 12 to 18 months of hire.
Mina Group is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment. They welcome applicants from all backgrounds and provide reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
