Job Description

Midwood Smokehouse is a distinguished barbecue restaurant and a proud member of the FS Food Group portfolio, known for its commitment to authentic, traditional barbecue techniques. Established in 2011 in Charlotte's vibrant Plaza Midwood neighborhood, Midwood Smokehouse has grown to become a key player in the American barbecue scene, delivering exceptional flavors that honor regional barbecue styles, from North Carolina hog to Texas beef. The restaurant strictly adheres to using hardwood and traditional smoking methods, avoiding pellets, gas, or power outlets, which underscores its dedication to genuine barbecue craftsmanship.

As part of the FS Food Group, Midwood Smokehouse benefits from robust operational support including marketing, accounting, purchasing, recruiting, and maintenance, allowing the culinary team to focus on delivering extraordinary food experiences. The group’s growth across cities like Charlotte, Columbia, and Raleigh, NC, highlights the brand’s rising popularity and commitment to expansion. Midwood Smokehouse is seeking an Executive Chef who shares their passion and vision to lead the culinary team, spearheading excellence and innovation in barbecue cuisine.

The Executive Chef at Midwood Smokehouse plays a pivotal leadership role, responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations to maintain the restaurant's high culinary standards. This position involves strategic planning such as scheduling and ordering based on sales trends, as well as talent management including hiring, mentoring, and developing sous chefs and kitchen staff. The Executive Chef ensures that each dish meets the Midwood Smokehouse standard, thereby enhancing guest satisfaction and strengthening the brand’s reputation. This full-time role offers comprehensive compensation including achievable monthly bonuses, paid time off after 6 months, and a full suite of benefits such as employer-paid medical and dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, and an employee referral program.

The role requires profound expertise in barbecue cooking techniques, kitchen management in a high-volume environment, and maintaining rigorous health and safety standards. This leadership position not only demands culinary excellence but also strong communication, mentoring, and organizational skills to maintain a productive and positive work environment. Joining Midwood Smokehouse means becoming part of a growing legacy in barbecue, with opportunities for career advancement within a supportive and dynamic food group dedicated to continuous development and success.
