Job Description

Crystal Mountain Resort is Washington state's largest ski resort and a premier destination that attracts ski and snowboard enthusiasts year-round. Nestled in a beautiful National Forest and neighboring the iconic Mt. Rainier, it is renowned for its stunning terrain, breathtaking scenery, and vibrant mountain culture. As part of the Alterra Mountain Company, which owns some of the most renowned mountain resort brands worldwide, Crystal Mountain offers guests unforgettable adventures and experiences. The resort is committed to creating a community grounded in the spirit of the mountains, where passion for outdoor adventures, memorable guest experiences, and environmental stewardship thrive. Its ethos emphasizes empowerment, authenticity, collaboration, and purpose, making Crystal Mountain a unique place to work and grow professionally in the ski and hospitality industry.

The Resort Executive Chef position at Crystal Mountain is a pivotal role within the Food & Beverage business unit, reporting directly to the Director of Food & Beverage. This role serves as the senior culinary leader, overseeing all culinary and stewarding operations across multiple year-round and seasonal dining venues. With a competitive salary range of $95,000 to $115,000 annually plus bonus eligibility, this leadership role demands a blend of culinary expertise, operational management, and team development skills. The Executive Chef is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food quality, ensuring consistency and innovation in menu design, controlling food costs, and fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth among the culinary teams.

This role is perfect for a seasoned culinary professional with at least 10 years of experience in the industry, including four years in an executive chef capacity, who is passionate about delivering exceptional guest dining experiences in a high-volume, fast-paced mountain resort environment. The Executive Chef drives menu strategy, enforces food safety regulations, manages labor and inventory efficiently, and collaborates closely with leadership to align culinary operations with overall resort goals. Beyond kitchen operations, this leader enhances the guest experience by supporting culinary events, coaching staff, and ensuring a vibrant, motivated team culture.

Working at Crystal Mountain offers unique mountain lifestyle benefits, including free unlimited season passes for employees and their families to Alterra resorts, discounts on ski gear and lessons, access to exclusive events such as night skiing, and employee housing for eligible roles. The resort supports professional development and encourages team members to build their careers, embrace innovation, and contribute actively to the mountain community. Employees enjoy comprehensive health benefits, a 401(k) plan with an attractive match, accrued paid time off, and a dynamic work environment surrounded by nature’s beauty.

The ideal candidate for this position will have strong leadership qualities, a dedication to culinary excellence, and a passion for mountain culture. The ability to ski or snowboard at an intermediate level is necessary to access all resort venues, reflecting the unique nature of this mountain-based employer. If you are ready to bring your expertise and join a team that lives and breathes mountain adventure, this Executive Chef role at Crystal Mountain could be your next career milestone.
