Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a culinary management role
  • Knowledge of dietary restrictions and special diets common in senior living settings
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy kitchen equipment
  • Valid food handler certification
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and manage compliance documentation

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an executive chef or in a similar culinary leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of dietary needs and nutrition, especially for elderly residents
  • Experience managing kitchen staff and coordinating food service
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and compliance regulations
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, staff, and vendors
  • Experience in inventory management and budget oversight
  • Certification in food safety or sanitation preferred
  • Culinary degree or relevant professional training

Job Duties

  • Oversee all daily food preparation and service
  • Communicate dietary needs to staff as required
  • Monitor food prep and service for compliance with company/state guidelines
  • Involve residents in food prep, cooking, and dining room setup/cleanup when possible
  • Order food, beverages, and supplies from approved vendors using standard order guides
  • Manage inventories and forecast needs using historical data
  • Hire, train, and supervise kitchen personnel
  • Actively assist culinary staff with food temperatures, prep, and production
  • Ensure cleaning schedules and infection control procedures are followed
  • Maintain food cost budgets through proper portioning
  • Date and label all incoming food before storage
  • Conduct monthly food temperature checks and document results
  • Maintain all required logs (food, equipment, cleaning, OSHA compliance, etc.)
  • Monitor kitchen equipment condition and schedule repairs as needed
  • Support planning and prep for life enrichment, special events, and activities
  • Maintain emergency food supply per regulations
  • Clean all kitchen appliances weekly
  • Keep kitchen and dining areas clean and organized
  • Sweep and mop dining and kitchen floors
  • Set up and clear dining room for meals
