The Executive Chef position at GHC is a vital leadership role responsible for overseeing all culinary activities within the designated kitchen. This role demands a dynamic professional capable of directing food preparation, managing culinary teams, and liaising with both GHC management and clients to guarantee satisfaction and operational success. The Executive Chef is entrusted with menu planning, budget management, product purchasing, and rigorous adherence to health and safety standards. Beyond culinary skills, this role requires strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities to coordinate training, maintain kitchen cleanliness, and uphold brand standards. The Executive Chef also plays a crucial role in event planning and execution, working closely with house managers and clients to deliver exceptional dining experiences for special occasions and daily operations alike. Expected to work a minimum of 45-50 hours per week, this position involves periodic inspections, scheduling, and proactive management of kitchen staff and resources. The Executive Chef must exhibit dependability, critical thinking, and a cooperative attitude while managing multiple responsibilities within a fast-paced kitchen environment. Certification such as Serv Safe and valid food handler's card (if required by the state) are mandatory, underscoring the importance of food safety and regulatory compliance in this role. Embracing technology is also essential, as the Executive Chef will utilize the GHC App for menu submission, budget tracking, and schedule management. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • 2-3 years lead sous or executive chef experience and/or culinary degree preferred
  • ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals in English
  • ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • ability to speak effectively before groups and one-on-one
  • knowledge of compliance software
  • experience with database user interface and query software
  • proficient in inventory management software
  • familiarity with Greek House Chefs App
  • skilled in using commercial blenders, broilers, convection ovens, cutlery, deep fryers, and mandolin slicers
  • strong coordination and monitoring skills

Job Duties

  • Ensures overall health of the account is positive and in good standing
  • plans and directs food preparation and culinary activities
  • modifies menus or creates new ones that meet quality standards
  • recruits and manages kitchen staff
  • purchases and orders food supplies while managing budget
  • manages employees schedules and hours
  • manages the GHC App
  • ensures the overall cleanliness of the kitchen meets and exceeds GHC health and equipment cleaning standards
  • makes periodic inspections of units to observe quality of food preparation, appearance, cleanliness and sanitation
  • coordinates all training activities for kitchen and other production employees
  • follows proper training manual procedures for equipment item requests
  • develops recipes and portion specifications in accordance with GHC standards
  • submits menu two weeks ahead to the GHC App for approval
  • submits budget via the GHC App on time weekly
  • schedules and attends food committee reviews at least once a month
  • maintains a pleasant appearance and wears a clean GHC Blue Embroider chef coat while in the kitchen
  • works a minimum of 45-50 hours per week
  • receives trucks and checks for quantity and quality
  • plans and attends up to 3 special events per semester
  • maintains positive and professional working relationships with vendors, directs, and clients
  • works with management to establish account specific service procedures
  • monitors schedule and time management responsibilities
  • demonstrates strong knowledge of GHC Handbook
  • transfers to other worksites as needed
  • performs other duties as assigned
