The role of Environmental Services (EVS) Associate is essential to maintaining a safe, sanitary, and orderly environment within the hospital’s patient care areas. EVS Associates perform cleaning functions according to specific schedules and methods, ensuring that patients, visitors, and staff experience a clean and hygienic setting. This position specifically involves working the evening shift from 9 PM to 5:30 AM, with rotating weekend responsibilities. A key part of the job includes preventing cross-contamination by controlling bacteria, managing odors, and sustaining aseptic conditions, which are critical in a healthcare environment.

In addition to cleaning, EVS Associates assist with other duties such as moving furniture, delivering supplies, recycling, and trash or biohazard waste removal. They must follow stringent protocols for disposing of biohazards in compliance with EPA and OSHA regulations, including handling environmental contaminants like batteries, mercury thermometers, and needles.
