They will oversee high-impact fundraisers such as the annual Spring Break gala and milestone celebrations including the 20th anniversary event. This role demands a leader who can bring together multiple teams—including marketing, corporate partnerships, and program staff—to deliver events that resonate deeply with diverse audiences.
The ideal candidate will bring 5 to 10 years of relevant professional experience, including at least three years dedicated to event management or external engagement and marketing. They must be adept at managing complex budgets, navigating vendor relationships, and streamlining coordination across stakeholders. A systems-oriented approach combined with creative flair is essential for translating organizational messaging into compelling event themes, live experiences, and sponsorship opportunities that drive social impact and financial support.
Moreover, the Events Director will champion event revenue strategies, working closely with development teams to align events with fundraising goals, analyze returns on investment, and adjust methods accordingly. This leadership role also entails comprehensive project management for milestone events like Back to Service and Graduation, ensuring that all logistics, from venue selection to vendor coordination, meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. The position demands flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends and requires the ability to manage varying priorities in a fast-paced environment.
City Year Los Angeles values strategic thinkers who are collaborative communicators and proactive problem solvers, equipped to lead cross-departmental event planning committees and develop meaningful stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will be passionate about educational equity and youth development, ready to support the growth of a large and dynamic organization that makes a real-world difference.
