Job Description

Major League Hacking (MLH) is a prominent organization dedicated to empowering software developers by organizing and supporting a variety of technical events. Known for its vibrant and collaborative community, MLH plays a critical role in fostering skill development, networking opportunities, and career growth among tech enthusiasts, particularly software engineers and developers. MLH’s events range from hackathons and workshops to larger conferences, all designed to engage and inspire participants to innovate and build impactful technology solutions. As a dynamic and rapidly growing company in the tech events space, MLH continues to expand its portfolio of events globally, emphasizing inclusivity, education, and hands-on experience for developers at various stages of their careers.

The Event Planning and Logistics Coordinator at Major League Hacking is an essential role focused on the seamless execution of multiple technical events aimed primarily at software developers. This fast-paced, entry-level position is an excellent opportunity for individuals who possess a keen eye for detail, strong organizational abilities, and a passion for event coordination and project management. In this role, the coordinator will take complete ownership of the logistical elements across a suite of events scheduled throughout the year. Responsibilities will include venue and vendor management, logistics coordination, collaboration with marketing for event promotion and registration, and risk management.

This role demands exceptional multi-tasking and simultaneous project management skills, as the coordinator will juggle several events at various stages of planning and execution concurrently. Success in this position hinges on the ability to research, vet, and contract with venues and suppliers that meet the technical and networking requirements unique to developer-centric events — such as high-speed and reliable Wi-Fi, appropriate power setups, and optimal audiovisual equipment. Beyond vendor management, the role involves scheduling, transportation logistics, event setup and teardown, securing necessary permits, and on-site event management to ensure each event runs smoothly.

Collaboration with the marketing team is integral to aligning on registration goals and promotional timelines, ensuring efforts are effectively targeted at capturing a developer audience. Additionally, the coordinator must anticipate and mitigate risks, particularly those related to technical challenges in audiovisual or internet connectivity, by establishing thorough contingency plans. This blend of strategic planning, hands-on management, and communication with cross-functional teams makes this role vital to the successful delivery of Major League Hacking’s events calendar.

This position offers a unique chance to enter the tech event management industry, gain experience working within a technology-focused environment, and develop professionally while contributing to a community that values innovation and learning. Candidates who thrive are proactive, detail-oriented, and driven by a desire to create exceptional event experiences that support developer growth and engagement.
