Job Description

The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is an esteemed and well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to animal welfare, being the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin since its founding in 1879. WHS operates multiple shelters across Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Door, Brown, and Kenosha Counties, supporting a wide range of animal care and community programs. These include adoption services, youth engagement programs, low-cost veterinary care, retail stores, volunteer opportunities, dog training classes, and a wildlife rehabilitation center in Milwaukee. The organization prides itself on independent operations without general government funding or affiliation with a national umbrella group, underscoring its community-driven focus and commitment to compassionate animal care. WHS's mission is to improve the lives of animals and the people who love them, and its dedicated workforce of over 280 staff members across seven locations work tirelessly to achieve this mission.

The part-time Event Associate - Southern Campuses plays a vital role within WHS's development and fundraising team. This hybrid position is based at the Kenosha and Racine Campuses, with a primary responsibility for overseeing third-party fundraising programs specific to these campuses, including the well-known Pet Walk Racine-Kenosha event. Reporting to the Director of Special Events, the Event Associate will lead the planning and execution of the organization's special events fundraising efforts focused in Kenosha and Racine Counties. Key aspects of the role include designing engagement strategies to boost awareness, attendance, and support for a variety of fundraising events; actively participating in sponsorship solicitations in collaboration with major gifts and institutional giving teams; managing event budgets and financial reporting; and serving as the main contact point for vendors, volunteers, participants, and third-party fundraisers. The position requires meticulous attention to detail, coordination of event staff and volunteers, and involvement as a collaborative member of WHS's overall fundraising strategy and events team. This role promises a rewarding career opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and communities while working alongside a passionate and supportive team. The hiring salary range for this position is $19.58 to $24.48 per hour, reflecting the important contributions the successful candidate will make to the mission of the Wisconsin Humane Society.
