Job Description
City of Hope is a renowned not-for-profit biomedical research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes, and other serious illnesses. Founded in 1913, it has grown to become one of the leading cancer research and treatment organizations in the United States. City of Hope boasts an independent, National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center that ranks among the top five in the nation for cancer care, a distinction awarded by U.S. News & World Report. The organization’s integrated model includes advanced cancer care, extensive research and development, academic programs, and a philanthropy initiative that supports and powers its wide-ranging mission.
City of Hope serves patients through its main Los Angeles campus, multiple clinical care locations spread across Southern California, a new cancer center in Orange County, and additional treatment centers and outpatient facilities located in the Atlanta, Chicago, and Phoenix metropolitan areas. This broad geographic reach ensures that the advanced treatment and compassionate care developed at City of Hope are accessible to many communities nationwide. The institution is deeply committed to improving patient outcomes through innovative therapies derived from cutting-edge research, which has led to breakthroughs like synthetic human insulin, monoclonal antibodies, and various cancer medications.
The Environmental Services Technician role at City of Hope is a pivotal position within the Environmental Services team. This role is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across assigned hospital units to support a safe, welcoming, and hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and staff alike. The importance of sanitation in a healthcare setting cannot be overstated; it plays a crucial role in infection control and patient safety. The technician performs standard cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning light fixtures and furniture, and emptying trash receptacles. Additionally, operation of cleaning equipment and use of a range of approved tools, products, and supplies are integral to this position.
This specific role requires working primarily Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with flexibility needed to cover other shifts based on business demands. As part of the hospital's commitment to excellence, the successful candidate will contribute directly to the hospital environment’s upkeep, ensuring it remains safe and attractive—a key component of patient care experience and facility standards.
City of Hope seeks candidates who bring not only the skills and knowledge necessary for thorough environmental services but also a dedication to teamwork, customer service, and attentiveness to detail. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a prestigious organization that not only leads in scientific research but also delivers comprehensive care and support to those affected by cancer and diabetes. City of Hope values diversity and inclusion in its workforce and is an equal opportunity employer. Employees’ pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and the specific work location. Comprehensive benefits are available to support the well-being and professional growth of its team members.
