The role of Service Assistant at Denny's is pivotal in maintaining the overall cleanliness, organization, and operational flow within the restaurant. Additionally, the Service Assistant manages the dishware logistics, including proper sorting, washing, and replenishing of all pots, pans, dishes, glassware, utensils, and ice within service areas throughout the shift. They ensure the dish machines and other kitchen equipment are clean and functioning properly with the correct chemical levels maintained. Immediate cleanup of spills and broken items helps sustain a safe environment for both guests and staff. The role also involves assisting with stocking deliveries and rotating perishable stock in line with the company’s freshness and safety guidelines. The Service Assistant must demonstrate a willingness to assist team members without prompting and uphold Denny’s brand standards and internal policies at all times.
This role demands physical stamina as it involves lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and standing or walking for extended periods during shifts that can last between 4 to 8 hours. The candidate must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and be capable of handling potentially hazardous chemicals safely. Effective communication and courteous interaction with guests and team members are essential to promptly address requests and complaints. Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds throughout shift
- must be able to bend, stoop, reach, wipe, lift and grab
- must have sufficient mobility to move and operate in work area
- must be able to work inside and outside
- must be able to observe wares for cleanliness and chemical labels for safe handling
- must be able to stand and walk during a 4 to 8 hour shift
- must be able to frequently immerse hands in water
- must be able to work with all Denny's menu products
- must be able to hear well in a loud environment to respond to employee and guest needs
- must meet any state, county or municipal regulation pertaining to health risk concerns about food handling
- must be able to tolerate extreme temperature changes in kitchen and freezer areas
- must be able to work with potentially hazardous chemicals

Job Duties
- Busses and cleans tables
- resets tables

- regularly cleans and inspects dish machine and other machinery, maintains proper dish machine chemical levels
- properly sorts and washes all dishware and replenishes kitchen and dishware in service areas promptly
- immediately cleans up spills and broken glasses and dishes
- addresses complaints and requests promptly in a courteous manner and notifies supervisor of any issues
- assists with stocking deliveries and rotates perishable stock according to standards
- performs sidework and other deep cleaning duties as assigned
- willingly assists others without being asked
- adheres to Denny's brand standards and internal policies and procedures
- provides prompt and courteous service and is cordial to all team members and guests
- completes all other tasks and duties as assigned
