The Dietary and Food Cook plays a vital role in maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation while ensuring that meals are nutritious, appealing, and tailored to meet special dietary requirements. Responsibilities include reviewing work orders for food preparation, seasoning and cooking food, carving meats and poultry for individual servings, overseeing kitchen staff, managing food storage, and planning menus with a focus on cost-effectiveness and quality. This role requires strong culinary knowledge, attention to detail, organization, and excellent communication skills.

Job Duties
- Review work orders to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared
- prepare, season, and cook food
- carve portions of meat, fish, or fowl for individual servings
- inspect food storage and direct sanitary maintenance of kitchen and storage facilities
- oversee and coordinate activities of kitchen workers preparing and cooking foods
- plan and review menus
- determine food quantities, labor, and overhead costs
