Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- age over 18 years
- background clearance as required by government regulations
- retain a current food handler's permit
- minimum of two years' experience cooking
- negative TB test results
- excellent communication skills including ability to speak, write and read English
- ability to operate computer, necessary software programs (word, email, excel), scanners, copiers, and fax machines
- ability to be professional at all times with other team members, residents, family members, and visitors

Job Duties
- arrive to work on time and prepared for your shift
- prepare all food items in accordance with planned menus and recipes ensuring meals are appetizing, nutritional, and meet special dietary requests
- ensure all food is served at the correct temperature and charted accordingly
- ensure proper plate presentation
- consult with Director of Dining Services on menu changes or substitutions
- ensure food storage areas are clean and organized at all times
- prepare food according to governmental, sanitary, and dietitian regulations and report infractions
- take care of food orders timely
- dispose of food and waste per policies
- properly store, label, and date leftovers
- record temperatures of refrigerators, freezers, and dishwashers
- maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas
- supervise servers and dishwashers
- prepare upcoming menu items ensuring stock and adherence to recipes
- manage safe storage and efficient use of kitchen inventory
- promote positive and friendly teamwork
- perform other duties as assigned by Director of Dining Services, Sous Chef or Executive Director
