The Cook position at Aramark is designed for individuals passionate about culinary arts and food preparation. Cooks at Aramark are integral in creating high-quality meals that adhere to production guidelines and food safety standards.

As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of foods by using standardized recipes and production procedures. Your tasks will include setting up workstations with necessary ingredients and tools, measuring and preparing ingredients through chopping, weighing, mixing, and peeling, and employing various cooking techniques such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming. You will also be expected to safely operate kitchen equipment including ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers.

Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the work area and cooking utensils is imperative in this role, alongside adhering to company safety protocols. Seats of responsibility also include proper food storage, security of company assets, and consistent delivery of excellent customer service with a positive attitude towards guests, co-workers, and clients.

This role is physically engaging, requiring lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking or standing. Employees may also need to wear uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) as part of their daily duties. Job Requirements

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role
  • Knowledge of food preparation principles and food safety regulations
  • Ability to acquire food safety certification
  • Basic math and counting skills
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to perform physical duties including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, walking, and standing for extended periods
  • Willingness to wear uniforms and personal protective equipment

Job Qualifications

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • Must be able to acquire food safety certification
  • Demonstrate basic math and counting skills
  • Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal

Job Duties

  • Cooks and prepares a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
  • Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
  • Safely uses a variety of utensils including knives
  • Operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
  • Bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
  • Arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines
  • Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
  • Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
  • Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
  • Ensures security of company assets
