The role at The Dish is centered around the kitchen operations, reporting directly to the Kitchen Leader and Division Leader. This position is vital in ensuring all food is properly prepared, adhering strictly to sanitation and food handling procedures to uphold the restaurant’s standards. The candidate will be responsible for preparing food orders as they arrive, measuring and assembling ingredients accurately, and cooking menu items in harmony with the kitchen team. Attention to detail and adherence to company menus and plating instructions are crucial to maintain food consistency and customer satisfaction. Additionally, the role involves managing food storage effectively, monitoring inventory levels to ensure timely thawing and availability of items, and protecting the company’s assets through conscientious handling of resources. Beyond food preparation, the position includes maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment, which contributes to the restaurant’s overall presentation and operational efficiency. Employees in this role will need to exhibit a strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures and apply Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines meticulously. Job Qualifications

  • Proven cooking experience including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook
  • excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures

Job Duties

  • Prepare food orders as they come in
  • measure and assemble ingredients for menu items
  • cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
  • prep food for use on next shift
  • properly store food items at appropriate temperatures
  • identify kitchen food needs and pull food from freezer to allow time for thawing
  • notify Kitchen Leader of items needed before the item is completely out
  • follow all menus, menu plating instructions, company guidelines and procedures to maintain food consistency
  • apply HACCP guidelines when handling food
  • maintain a clean, sanitized, safe, organized and well-stocked restaurant
  • sweep, mop, and organize coolers and other areas of the kitchen
  • wear appropriate uniform, footwear, name tag and maintain cleanliness
  • maintain a safe environment when dealing with cooking utensils
  • work as an integral part of a team, assisting and communicating effectively with co-workers
