The role we are offering is a Food Preparation and Cooking Specialist position within our hospital's food service department. This full-time position is designed for individuals passionate about delivering nutritious and delicious meals while adhering strictly to dietary restrictions and hospital policies. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, seasoning, and cooking various food items including meats, vegetables, soups, and desserts, ensuring that all meals meet quality standards and are ready at specified mealtimes. This position demands attention to detail, a strong adherence to sanitation standards, and the flexibility to assist in various tasks such as trayline setup and food procurement. Working closely with supervisors and dietitians, the incumbent ensures that patient dietary needs are met with accuracy and care. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to three months related experience and/or training
  • Food Handlers Permit

Job Duties

  • Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines
  • Reviews production sheets to determine type and quantities of meats, vegetables, soups, and desserts to be prepared
  • Prepares foods in accordance to diet restrictions when applicable
  • Follows standardized recipes when preparing foods
  • Assists in procuring needed items from designated areas
  • Cooks on grill areas of the cafeteria during meal service as assigned
  • Ensures food will be ready for specified mealtimes by following cooking schedules
  • Confers with Supervisor and/or Dietitians regarding modified diet preparations
  • Sets up patient trayline and cafeteria lines according to menu combinations and assist on patient trayline as needed
  • Maintains cooking area in a clean and orderly manner
  • Follows sanitation procedures in all food preparations
  • Notifies Head Chef and/or Coordinator with any food shortages
  • Completes special cleaning assignments
  • Performs other duties as assigned
