The Cocktail Runner position at Live! Hospitality is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced hospitality environments and are passionate about providing exceptional guest service. This role is pivotal in supporting the bartenders and ensuring that all beverages are delivered promptly and professionally to guests. The Cocktail Runner must maintain a polished and professional appearance consistent with the company’s standards, and possess comprehensive knowledge of drinks including specialty cocktails, wines, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages. Responsibilities also include maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar and lounge areas, following proper service protocols, and upholding all state and company regulations regarding alcohol service. The role demands excellent communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to anticipate guest needs, ensuring seamless service delivery.

In addition to delivering beverages, the Cocktail Runner supports the operational flow of the venue by performing opening and closing duties, managing side stations, and collaborating closely with other front-of-house and kitchen staff. This position requires a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving, making it essential for candidates to uphold a positive and professional attitude at all times. The Cocktail Runner also plays an active role in maintaining the integrity of the venue by reporting any damage or breakages and participating in daily meetings and training sessions to continually enhance their skills and knowledge.

Job Requirements

  • Handling, carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds (bar ware, carts, boxes, bottles, etc.)
  • must be able to efficiently and safely stand and move about the entire facility during each shift
  • bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting

Job Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of serving in a fast-paced food and beverage venue
  • knowledge of liquor brands, beer, wine, champagne, non-alcoholic beverages, designated glassware, preparation methods and garnishments preferred
  • must meet state legal age requirements
  • must speak fluent English, other languages preferred
  • must be courteous, pleasant, and good natured
  • communication skills utilized significantly when interacting with guests, bartenders, wait staff, cooks, and supervisors
  • alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency
  • may be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays

Job Duties

  • Maintain professional appearance standards as directed in the Live! Hospitality Employee Handbook
  • anticipate and accommodate all the needs of the guests
  • use proper service protocol - serving all drinks to the guest's right, using the right hand
  • able to carry a tray
  • able to comprehensively describe all drinks, specialty cocktails, wine and beer
  • provide professional and exceptional service
  • ensure delivery of all beverages to the guests
  • maintain general cleanliness of assigned stations and entire venue
  • follow supervisor's instructions, communicate with and support co-workers, be a team player
  • possess in-depth knowledge of all food and beverage menus
  • serve all alcoholic beverages in accordance with all state regulations and alcohol awareness training standards
  • follow all company procedures when providing bottle service
  • follow proper cash/payment card procedures
  • comply with Department of Health and company sanitation standards
  • communicate the needs of the guests to Front-of-House and Heart-of-House support staff, managers and chefs
  • properly set-up cocktail lounge/bar and side stations, perform side-work and other opening/closing procedures as directed by management
  • ensure all lounge furniture is clean and free of debris
  • perform opening & closing side-work as instructed
  • report all breakage, damage of equipment or furniture immediately to management
  • attend and participate in daily pre-shift meetings
  • attend and participate in any training sessions or departmental meetings
  • learn by listening, observing other team members and sharing knowledge while leading by example
  • portray a positive and professional attitude
  • demonstrate knowledge of Live! Hospitality, its partners and the entirety of the estate
  • work as part of a team and provide help and support to all team members
