Job Description

CarMax is the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, operating with over 250 store locations and employing more than 30,000 associates across the country. Founded over 30 years ago, CarMax revolutionized the used car buying experience by introducing transparency and integrity into the process, setting a new standard in customer service and trust. The company continues to be recognized as one of the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For, reflecting its commitment to employee satisfaction, innovation, and community support. CarMax’s people-first values and dedication to excellence have helped it grow steadily and maintain a leadership position in the retail auto industry. Their team-centric culture encourages associates to drive progress both personally and professionally while contributing to positive change in the communities they serve.

At CarMax, the Fleet Driver role is essential for maintaining streamlined operations within the company. This position involves much more than simply transporting vehicles; Fleet Drivers contribute significantly to the overall inventory management and customer experience by ensuring vehicles are moved safely, reliably, and timely between stores, auctions, vendors, and logistics hubs. With a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and integrity, Fleet Drivers represent CarMax’s commitment to doing the right thing and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.

This is a full-time, hourly position offering competitive pay ranging from $26.20 to $44.60 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. The role also provides a consistent schedule with routes designed to allow drivers to return home daily, promoting work-life balance. Fleet Drivers at CarMax conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections, comply with DOT and company safety regulations, and maintain accurate driving logs. Their responsibilities extend to operating equipment such as a truck and trailer with care, securing vehicles properly, and interacting professionally with vendors and internal teams. The role demands physical capability to handle heavy objects and operate a 10-speed transmission, with work taking place outdoors in various weather conditions.

CarMax is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. The company supports growth, offers training and development opportunities, and provides a comprehensive benefits program that includes paid sick leave, vacation time, holiday pay, and more. Associates enjoy earning sick time and vacation based on tenure, paid scheduled holidays, and floating holidays, among other perks. This Fleet Driver position provides an excellent career opportunity for professionals passionate about logistics, customer satisfaction, and representing a trusted national brand. Joining CarMax means becoming part of a forward-thinking team that values teamwork, safety, and doing the right thing every time.
