The role of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Core-Mark is an essential position that supports America's food distribution system. Delivery drivers are critical operatives responsible for transporting food and related products to customers safely, securely, and on schedule. Beyond the fundamental task of delivery, drivers are the face of Core-Mark, tasked with building lasting connections with customers while adhering to strict Department of Transportation regulations. Drivers work various routes including local intrastate and interstate drives, over-the-road long hauls, shuttles, and drive-and-drop assignments, with dispatch times generally between 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM, providing an opportunity for early day routes. This role offers the opportunity to earn competitive wages, with average pay reaching up to $75,000 annually based on miles, stops, and unloading performed.

The position requires drivers to perform a range of duties, including pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety compliance, careful handling and verification of freight, maintaining accurate delivery paperwork, and interacting professionally with customers and vendors. Drivers also handle unloading of goods, damage control, and securement of freight and vehicle when not in transit. Compliance with federal, state, and company policies, including the recording of hours of service and adherence to safety regulations, is mandatory. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum 6 months commercial driving experience
  • valid CDL-A license
  • age 21 or older
  • meet all applicable state licensing and certification requirements
  • clean motor vehicle record for last 3 years
  • pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • pass road test
  • current or obtainable DOT Health Card
  • ability to hand-lift and operate equipment to move product cases

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience
  • valid CDL-A license
  • must be 21+ years of age
  • meet all State licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • clean Motor Vehicle Report for past 3 years
  • pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • pass road test
  • possess or be able to obtain valid DOT Health Card
  • able to hand-lift and use equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates for product handling

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
  • report all safety issues and repairs required
  • follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies
  • immediately report all safety hazards
  • inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • perform count check of items and check customer invoices of loaded products
  • complete all required freight paperwork accurately and legibly
  • move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • drive and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route and schedule
  • unload products from trailer and transport items to designated customer storage areas
  • perform damage control checks on items and notify supervisor about order removals
  • verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
  • collect payments where required
  • secure trailer doors and ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and secured
  • unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
  • complete daily hours of service records and maintain logs in compliance with DOT requirements
  • perform housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock areas
  • complete all necessary paperwork and secure equipment at end of shift
  • perform other related duties as assigned
