Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food Handlers Certification compliant with state requirements
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years culinary experience or culinary degree with experience
  • Ability to communicate clearly

  • Basic math and financial data understanding

Job Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory responsibility preferred
  • At least 5 years of related progressive experience or a culinary graduate with at least 1 year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field
  • Possession of Food Handlers Certification compliant with state requirements
  • Strong communication skills with ability to convey information clearly
  • Ability to evaluate and choose among alternative actions quickly and accurately
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in high-pressure, stressful situations
  • Capability to take initiative proactively in job performance
  • Ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
  • Competence in handling workplace problems effectively
  • Ability to assimilate and adjust complex information from various sources

Job Duties

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Hyatt standards as required by scheduling
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and nametag when working
  • Comply with Hyatt standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
  • Comply with certification requirements including Food Handlers Safety
  • Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times
  • Have a thorough working knowledge of menus and preparation required to produce products according to standards
  • Ensure completion of necessary food and station preparations prior to opening dining outlets
  • Assist and supervise kitchen line during operating hours to maintain efficiency, productivity, and quality
  • Support any kitchen position needing help
  • Supervise and assist with food preparation for Banquets as per Banquet Event Orders and coordinate with Banquet Manager
  • Supervise preparation of food for Employee Cafeteria as necessary
  • Ensure all food follows Hyatt standard recipes
  • Maintain the 'Clean as You Go' policy and sanitation schedules
  • Keep storage areas orderly and clean
  • Assist with buffet and kitchen line breakdowns ensuring proper storage of food and equipment
  • Ensure safe work habits to avoid injuries
  • Enforce hotel policies and house rules
  • Be familiar with hotel emergency procedures
  • Ensure employees remain attentive, helpful, and courteous
  • Aid in security of food items including locking meat locker and walk-ins
  • Maintain order and cleanliness in Employee Break room
  • Maintain and improve high food quality standards
  • Assist in training staff on kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
  • Attend management meetings
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
