Job Description
Total Wine & More is a prominent specialty retailer in the beer, wine, and spirits industry, widely recognized for its extensive selection and exceptional customer service. Established with a commitment to providing customers with expert knowledge and a personalized shopping experience, Total Wine & More has grown to become a trusted destination for both casual consumers and connoisseurs alike. The company prides itself on offering not only a vast inventory of alcoholic beverages but also the resources and educational opportunities necessary to enhance the customer's understanding and enjoyment of these products.
As an integral part of Total Wine & More's team, the role of a Cashier, also known internally as a Front End Team Member, is crucial in delivering fast, friendly, and efficient customer service at the point of sale. This position involves more than merely processing transactions; it is about creating positive interactions that encourage customer loyalty and promote a welcoming store environment. Working under the direction of the store management team, Cashiers are expected to embody the company’s values and contribute to the overall customer experience.
This role often serves as an entry point within Total Wine & More, offering both part-time and full-time opportunities. In addition to cashiering duties, team members may also take on responsibilities as sales associates or merchandisers/stock associates, providing a dynamic and varied work environment. This flexibility helps team members develop a wide range of skills related to retail operations, inventory management, and customer engagement.
Cashiers at Total Wine & More are entrusted with several key responsibilities, including accurately processing sales transactions with a keen eye for detail such as identification verification and handling various payment methods. They answer customer inquiries, promote the loyalty program, and ensure products are bagged properly. Exceptional service delivery is a hallmark of the role, with team members greeting customers warmly, fostering relationships, educating them about products and services, and providing tailored recommendations.
A distinguishing feature of this role is the opportunity to participate in specialized training programs focusing on wine, spirits, and beer, which builds comprehensive product knowledge and enhances customer interactions. Team members also maintain a thorough understanding of current promotions, advertisements, and loyalty programs, ensuring customers are well-informed about offers that add value to their shopping experience.
Store safety and cleanliness are paramount at Total Wine & More. Cashiers are expected to uphold safety standards, including compliance with all laws and regulations related to the sale of alcohol, helping to create a safe and compliant store environment. They may also be called upon to perform cross-functional duties to support the store’s smooth operation.
Physical demands include being able to work on feet for extended periods, lift and handle products safely, and sometimes work under various outdoor conditions. The role requires candidates to be at least 21 years of age, reflecting the nature of the products sold.
Total Wine & More values its team members highly, recognizing them as the company's greatest asset. The company fosters a supportive culture through its Total Rewards program, offering a comprehensive benefits package that includes generous paid time off, health care options, and career development opportunities. Compensation is competitive and considers various factors such as location and experience. The company is an equal opportunity employer and committed to creating an inclusive and supportive workplace for all employees.
