With over 140 supermarkets spread across 10 states and a dedicated team of more than 22,000 employee owners, WinCo Foods stands out as the second largest employee-owned company in the country. The organization prides itself on a culture of ownership where every employee has a stake in the company’s success through its Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). This has resulted in more than 500 millionaire employee-owners who have benefited directly from the company’s growth and profitability. WinCo Foods is not just about grocery retail — it is about building communities, supporting families, and promoting long-term career opportunities with competitive benefits and professional development programs. The company offers top-tier medical plans, tuition support, and a variety of additional benefits that set it apart in the retail industry.

As a Self-Checkout Attendant at WinCo Foods, you will play a vital role in enhancing the customer experience through friendly, efficient, and accurate service. This position is based in retail locations that operate almost 24 hours a day, seven days a week, requiring flexibility to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. Your main responsibility will involve assisting customers at multi-station self-checkout lanes, two-aisle check stands, and customer service desks to ensure smooth transactions. The role demands maintaining a courteous and enthusiastic demeanor while engaging customers with suggestive selling and service-oriented communication. You will handle various payment methods such as cash, checks, gift certificates, and food stamps, while strictly adhering to company policies related to cash handling and lane accountability. Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, restocking merchandise, and ensuring accurate pricing are also key functions of this position.

In addition to processing transactions, self-checkout attendants must remain attentive in monitoring multiple checkout stations to address errors promptly, assist customers in their transactions, and prevent shrinkage. A critical part of this job involves maintaining a safe environment for customers and staff alike by staying vigilant in the checkout area and reporting any safety concerns as per company policy. Employees must comply with all relevant state and federal laws concerning the sale of restricted items such as tobacco and alcohol, and must follow USDA regulations for food stamp and WIC voucher processing. The role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift and maneuver objects up to 50 pounds, stand or sit for long periods, bend, stoop, twist, and perform repetitious tasks accurately.

WinCo Foods emphasizes inclusivity and diversity within its workplace culture, fostering an environment where employees from various backgrounds feel valued and respected. This position offers excellent opportunities for growth within a reputable company that values its employee-owners and is committed to making positive impacts within the communities it serves. By joining WinCo Foods as a Self-Checkout Attendant, you become an essential part of a collaborative team dedicated to exceptional customer service and operational excellence within the retail grocery industry.
