Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two to four years of formal job related training
  • Minimum one year of management experience in food service
  • Must obtain City of Dallas Safety and Sanitation Certification within one month of employment
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local food safety laws and regulations
  • Ability to operate institutional kitchen equipment
  • Must communicate effectively in English
  • Spanish language skills preferred

  • Two to four years formal job related training
  • One year successful management experience in food service or completion of relevant training program
  • Approved City of Dallas Safety and Sanitation Certification within one month of hire

  • Proficient communication skills in English
  • Spanish communication skills a plus

Job Duties

  • Provide students with a well-balanced and nutritious meal
  • Manage the preparation and delivery of quality meals using standardized recipes and menu instructions

  • Ensure the food service program complies with federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Adhere to district guidelines for meal service accountability

  • Resolve internal cafeteria issues and communicate unresolved matters to central staff
  • Requisition small equipment and cleaning supplies and report equipment repairs to the central office
  • Supervise cafeteria work activities including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, appraising, rewarding, and disciplining employees
  • Maintain records for program accountability including deliveries, cash receipts, and meals served
  • Enforce district and departmental policies and procedures
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned by supervisors and department heads
