This part-time Barista I position is based at New York Presbyterian Queens, offering an essential role in delivering high-quality coffee and beverage services. The work schedule includes morning shifts on varying days and rotating weekends, with pay set at $17.25 per hour. As a Barista I with Sodexo, you will be responsible for crafting hand-prepared specialty drinks like espresso, cappuccino, café latte, and a range of other hot and cold beverages with precision and care, while ensuring excellent customer service. The role requires greeting customers warmly and providing personalized service to create an inviting cafe experience.
In addition, this position involves maintaining an attractive and well-stocked coffee bar, handling cash transactions with accuracy, and adhering to food safety and sanitation standards. Physical demands include standing or walking for extended periods, lifting weights up to 50 pounds occasionally, and performing light cleaning tasks. Essential skills include customer service etiquette, knowledge of food preparation and sanitation, and the ability to operate commercial coffee machines effectively. Training and certification such as Starbucks Barista certification may be required depending on the client account.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Prior customer service experience
- Knowledge of food preparation and sanitation standards
- Capability to stand or walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work morning shifts, varying days, and rotating weekends
- Punctuality and reliable attendance
- Willingness to perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and cleaning

Job Duties
- Greet all guests and provide quick, friendly, and personalized service
- Mix and serve hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, fruit blend drinks, etc., while considering customer specifications
- Maintain good customer relations and ensure speedy delivery of beverages and food items
- Educate guests regarding menu offerings and initiate suggestive selling
- Arrange coffee bar/cart supplies and cups/mugs to make attractive displays
- Clean coffee machines, restaurant areas, and preparation areas regularly
- Record all sales, collect money, operate a cash register, and follow all cash-handling procedures
- Walk or stand for extended periods, often exceeding 8 hours
- Reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
- Attend work and show up for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity
- Perform other duties as assigned depending on business necessities and client requirements
