Job Description

Eataly is the world’s largest artisanal Italian food and beverage marketplace, renowned for offering a unique experience that combines authentic Italian culinary traditions with a vibrant market atmosphere. Eataly is not a chain; each location boasts its own distinct character and theme, creating a one-of-a-kind environment that reflects the local culture and culinary spirit. The company’s mission revolves around three key pillars: to provide guests with the opportunity to EAT authentic Italian food through its restaurants, caf és, and to-go counters; to SHOP a curated selection of high-quality Italian, local, and homemade products; and to LEARN through educational classes and the expert knowledge of the team. This dedication to quality and authenticity ensures that every guest enjoys a memorable and immersive experience in Italian cuisine and culture.

The Barista role at Eataly is vital in maintaining the brand’s commitment to quality and guest satisfaction. A Barista is responsible for creating and serving specialty hot and cold beverages following Eataly’s authentic recipes as well as accommodating guests’ special requests. This position requires a strong knowledge of all coffee menu items and the ability to deliver high-quality, fast-paced service while working at multiple Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) counters that handle a variety of Italian delicacies, including pastry, gelato, and pizza.

Reporting to the QSR General Manager and Assistant General Managers, a Barista at Eataly plays a key role in shaping the customer experience. Duties include preparing authentic Italian espresso, coffee, and café drinks, providing guests with detailed product information such as coffee blends and preparation methods, and ensuring all stations are neat and replenished in accordance with proper allergen separation and FIFO (First In First Out) standards. The role also entails operating the Point of Sales (POS) system accurately and maintaining stringent cleanliness and sanitation standards to comply with health regulations.

This position demands excellent communication skills, the ability to maintain composure during high-volume periods, and adeptness in working across various counters. Candidates are expected to have at least one year of barista experience using a manual espresso machine, strong enthusiasm for coffee and beverage preparation, and the capability to perform simple mathematical calculations and follow precise production instructions. The ability to work onsite with a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, is essential. Physical requirements include the capacity to lift up to 50 pounds and sustain well-paced mobility for up to eight hours, which incorporates standing, walking, bending, and squatting.

The base pay for this position is $17.50 per hour plus tips, and Eataly offers an impressive range of benefits to its employees. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, paid parental leave, 401K with match or RRSP, a bonus program, free family meals daily, employee discounts at Eataly, culinary classes focused on Italian products and cuisine, and a referral bonus program.

Eataly is committed to equal employment opportunity and fosters an inclusive work environment free from unlawful discrimination and harassment. The company adheres to all applicable laws regarding employment decisions and provides accommodations for applicants who require them. Joining Eataly as a Barista means becoming part of a dedicated team passionate about Italian food culture, quality service, and providing guests with an exceptional marketplace experience.
