Recognized for the high standards of excellence it maintains, the casino offers countless opportunities for professional advancement and personal development across a variety of roles.
The position of Barback at American Place Casino is a crucial role within the bar team, designed for hardworking and reliable individuals who excel in communication and teamwork. This role supports bartenders by maintaining an organized and efficient bar environment, ensuring that guests receive prompt and quality service. Barbacks at American Place Casino thrive in fast-paced settings, balancing multiple tasks while maintaining meticulous attention to cleanliness and stock levels. This job requires adaptability, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and improve continuously under the guidance of experienced staff. While prior bar or hospitality experience is advantageous, it is not a strict requirement, making this role accessible to those eager to enter the hospitality industry.
Working as a Barback involves maintaining established stock by transporting beverage cases, preparing requisitions, and ensuring that a steady supply of ice, glassware, and garnishes is available at all times. The role includes the responsibility of rotating fresh fruit to maintain high standards of quality, restocking kegs and bottled beer in walk-in and reach-in coolers, and keeping the bar area clean and orderly throughout the shift. Additionally, Barbacks manage waste disposal by emptying trash bins in the bar area and perform other duties as assigned to support the broader team's objectives.
Ideal candidates possess excellent communication skills and can manage stressful, high-volume environments effectively, often working amid challenging conditions such as exposure to smoke, bright lights, and noise typical of casino settings. The physical demands of the job require the ability to lift up to 30 pounds and sustain prolonged periods of walking and standing.
American Place Casino emphasizes inclusivity and equal opportunity employment, welcoming applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or veteran status. The organization values diversity and fosters a positive, respectful work atmosphere. The Barback role compensates with a salary range of $15.20 to $24 per hour plus tips, along with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision coverage, 401k matching, educational tuition reimbursement, and other employee assistance programs aimed at supporting the well-being and growth of team members. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking to build a rewarding career in a dynamic and fast-paced hospitality environment.
