Job Description

Recognized for more than a century as the iconic address for Dallas hospitality, The Adolphus stands as a landmark hotel offering timeless culture, vibrant and storied surroundings, imaginative and collaborative food and drink, and immersive experiences. This 407-room downtown hotel is a reimagined grand European home that combines historic charm with luxurious modern amenities. The Adolphus prides itself on exceptional guest service, blending a rich heritage with a contemporary approach to hospitality that elevates every guest’s visit.

The role we are seeking to fill is that of a Bar Back, a critical position that operates behind the scenes to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of our bar services. The ideal candidate understands that the quality of every cocktail and wine served relies heavily on meticulous attention to detail. The Bar Back is responsible for maintaining spotless glassware, ensuring fresh ingredients are always available, and keeping spirits and supplies stocked and organized. This individual acts as the silent hero, seamlessly supporting bartenders by anticipating needs, managing stock, and contributing to the overall guest experience by helping maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and readiness.

The Bar Back’s responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness at all points of the bar—from the bar top where guests sit, to the bar back area where spirits, glassware, and supplies are stored, extending even to waste bins and floors. This role requires a thorough knowledge of the menu and beverage offerings, as well as a strong understanding of brand vision and quality standards. Additionally, the Bar Back should be adept at handling bar equipment, troubleshooting common issues such as low CO2 in tap lines or dishwasher cycles, ensuring uninterrupted service.

This position is part of the larger Makeready collection, a group known for fostering a supportive work environment with a commitment to the health and well-being of team members. The Adolphus offers a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, maternity and paternity leave, pet insurance, company-matched 401k and dependent care programs, student loan repayment assistance, and generous paid time off options. We emphasize a work culture where guiding principles are lived instinctively, promoting respect, teamwork, and inclusivity.

Makeready LLC and its affiliated entities support an equal opportunity workplace that values individuality and does not discriminate based on race, color, disability, gender, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, age, veteran status, or any other protected category. The company commits to building a team where success is based solely on qualifications, experience, abilities, and performance, encouraging every team member to bring their authentic self to work.

By joining The Adolphus as a Bar Back, candidates become part of a legacy brand dedicated to hospitality excellence, working in an environment that combines historic prestige with modern operational practices. The ideal candidate will thrive in a proactive, detail-focused role that demands teamwork, efficiency, and an unwavering commitment to quality and guest satisfaction.
