This opportunity offers a position at an hourly rate of $17.00, targeting individuals who wish to contribute to maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and order within the culinary spaces of the hospitality business. The role is designed for a team member responsible for critical cleaning and kitchen support duties, including washing and sanitizing dishes, glassware, flatware, cooking pots, utensils, and other food service equipment. This position also involves assisting in banquet food preparation and delivery, ensuring that the kitchen areas and related equipment remain spotless and fully operational. The role demands adherence to health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards and the use of personal protective equipment, ensuring a safe workplace for all. Team members must also maintain a clean personal appearance and professional demeanor while being flexible to work varying shifts, including holidays and weekends, which are common in the hospitality industry. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • no previous experience required but some experience in hospitality or kitchen environments is a plus
  • willingness to obtain Food Handlers Card within 30 days of employment
  • ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • availability to work flexible shifts including holidays and weekends
  • ability to follow safety protocols and use PPE
  • basic English proficiency for communication and reading instructions
  • must maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards
  • ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
  • willingness to learn and follow sanitation guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • No related experience or training required
  • previous stewarding experience desired
  • ability to perform basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed oral or written instructions
  • ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • must be able to communicate, read, write and understand English
  • completes required training as scheduled
  • ability to learn proper use of cleaning equipment and materials
  • must have or obtain valid Food Handlers Card within 30 days
  • ability to work varying schedules including holidays, weekends and alternate shifts
  • must maintain clean appearance and professional demeanor

Job Duties

  • Properly sorts soiled ware and prepares it for cleaning through the dish or pot machine
  • washes dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pans according to hotel's standard of cleanliness using appropriate dishwashing machines or cleaning equipment
  • visually inspects all items to assure cleanliness
  • cleans and sanitizes walls, floors, counter surfaces, cutting boards continuously or as assigned
  • places clean dishes, utensils and cooking equipment in appropriate storage areas
  • stocks supplies such as food or utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators or salad bars
  • disposes of kitchen substances such as grease and chemicals properly
  • transports garbage containers to dump sites and adheres to recycling regulations
  • sorts and removes trash, empties and cleans trashcans
  • follows all food handling, sanitation and health department guidelines
  • wears non-slip, oil resistant shoes and follows safety policies and procedures
  • acts on reports of potential safety issues and emergency situations
  • uses personal protective equipment as required
  • reports defective or damaged equipment or PPE
  • complies with hotel's hazardous material program and familiarizes with MSDS
  • reports to work as scheduled on time
  • may perform food preparation during shortages or peak periods
  • accepts and signs for deliveries ensuring items are accounted for and properly stored
  • keeps dish machine properly cleaned and filled
  • operates burnishing machine for silverware
  • communicates shortages or damages to management
  • ensures work area is clean and organized
