We are currently seeking a dedicated and career-driven Banquet Sous Chef to join the Hilton New Orleans Riverside culinary team. This role plays a pivotal part in overseeing all aspects of banquet production and operations, particularly focusing on hot banquet food production. The Banquet Sous Chef will work closely with the Banquet Chef to ensure that every banquet event runs efficiently and delivers a consistently exceptional guest and member experience. This position requires a motivated, detail-oriented individual with a passion for hospitality and team mentorship. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of success in a hotel kitchen environment, demonstrating expertise in managing kitchen operations, food quality, customer relations, and cost control.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a kitchen manager or sous chef in a hotel atmosphere
  • Strong food safety and sanitation knowledge
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for culinary arts and team development
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a kitchen manager or sous chef in a hotel atmosphere

Job Duties

  • Manage all aspects of the kitchen with a focus on banquets including operational, quality and administrative functions
  • Manage the provision of food to banquets and food and beverage outlets ensuring compliance with current legislation
  • Assist in positive outcomes from guest queries in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ensure food stuffs are of good quality and stored correctly
  • Contribute to menu creation by responding and incorporating guest feedback
  • Ensure the consistent production of high quality food through all hotel food outlets
  • Manage customer relations in the absence of the executive chef or executive sous chef
  • Ensure resources support the business needs through effective management of working rotations
  • Support brand standards through the training and assessment of the team
  • Manage the kitchen brigade to ensure a well-organized, motivated team
  • Control costs and improve gross profit margins and departmental targets
  • Assist other departments maintaining good working relationships
  • Comply with hotel security, fire regulations, health and safety, and food safety legislation
  • Report maintenance, hygiene and hazard issues
  • Be environmentally aware
