Job Requirements

  • At least 4 years of related progressive experience or a culinary graduate with at least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, liquor laws and regulations
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees and guests in a friendly and service-oriented manner
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
  • Effective in handling problems including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary

Job Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of related progressive experience or culinary graduate with at least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques
  • Understanding of health department rules and regulations
  • Familiarity with liquor laws and regulations
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees and guests
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
  • Problem-solving skills including anticipation, prevention, identification, and resolution of issues

Job Duties

  • Assist Banquet Chef in meeting or exceeding budgeted goals including labor and food costs
  • Assist Banquet Chef with management of all culinary staff including training, counseling, disciplining, terminating, and performance reviews
  • Inspire and establish a consistent understanding of company core culture
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable standards, laws/regulations, and food handling/sanitation standards
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of current culinary trends
  • Assist Banquet Chef in recruiting and retaining a culinary team passionate about their craft and committed to exceeding guest expectations
  • Support Banquet Chef in regular menu development initiatives
  • Regularly update internal recipes, checklists, and training manuals to ensure operational procedures are followed
  • Assist Banquet Chef in conducting culinary team one-on-ones
  • Oversee all food production to ensure all recipe standards are met consistently
  • Ensure that quality standards are maintained and defects addressed quickly and efficiently
  • Provide hands-on operational support where needed
  • Perform other reasonable duties as requested by supervisor
