The position available is for a Bakery Assistant Manager at the Appleton - Northland location. This is a full-time role, offering the chance to join a passionate and dedicated team within a dynamic bakery department. The assistant manager will work closely with the Bakery Department Manager to oversee daily bakery operations, ensuring that the bakery remains the heart of celebrations and everyday treats for guests. The role requires a hands-on leader who can inspire and motivate a team, maintain high standards for product quality, cleanliness, and safety, and uphold outstanding guest service.
Daily responsibilities include assisting with operational tasks such as managing inventory, pricing accuracy, and adhering to food safety policies. The assistant manager will also play a key part in training new associates, conducting performance reviews, and fostering a positive work environment. This role demands strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and a solid understanding of food service industry practices and retail bakery operations. A Wisconsin Certified Food Manager License is required, with the company willing to cover certification costs if needed. This role also involves physical activity such as standing for extended periods, lifting up to 60 pounds occasionally, and working with bakery equipment like slicers, mixers, ovens, and other power equipment.
Working hours will include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The full-time schedule allows for consistent involvement in the team’s success and the bakery’s operation. Job Requirements
- High school education or equivalent
- Experience in baking and pastry production
- Leadership skills with ability to motivate and manage a team
- Strong communication skills
- Proficient in technology and computer use related to food service
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and company policies
- Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 60 pounds occasionally, and operate bakery equipment
- Must obtain or hold Wisconsin Certified Food Manager License
Job Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to motivate and lead a team of bakers and pastry specialists

Job Duties
- Assist the Bakery Department Manager in overseeing bakery operations and leading the team of bakers
- Step in to lead the department in the manager's absence
- Train new bakery associates focusing on pastry offerings and food service standards
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback
- Maintain department standards including inventory management, pricing accuracy, cleanliness, quality, quantity, and safety
- Deliver outstanding food service by assisting guests with products, special orders, and concerns
- Support team by setting a positive example, assisting with daily tasks, and fostering a productive work environment
- Keep accurate food safety logs and adhere to company policies
- Collaborate with Store Director, Bakery Director, and other department managers to exceed guest expectations
- Manage timekeeping accuracy and communicate with HR regarding scheduling issues
- Perform other duties as needed to support the team
- Ensure regular, timely attendance and provide notice for absences
