The Baker position at Brook Hollow Golf Club plays a vital role in maintaining the club’s reputation for quality and freshness in its culinary offerings. Reporting directly to the Pastry Sous Chef, this position is ideal for a skilled and creative baking professional who is passionate about their craft and eager to contribute to a historic and distinguished environment. Starting at $18 per hour, this role is designed for candidates with at least two years of baking experience who thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced setting. The Baker will be responsible for preparing an array of baked goods such as cookies, cakes, pies, breads, and custom pastries in accordance with the club’s recipes and culinary standards. This involves mixing doughs, preparing delicious fillings including chocolate ganache, caramel sauces, and fruit-based fillings, as well as decorating cakes with artistic flair using glazes, icings, buttercream, and edible decorations like flowers.

The successful Baker will have excellent time management skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and a keen eye for detail that ensures each baked item is visually appealing and meets superior quality standards. Flexibility regarding shifts is necessary, accommodating early mornings or evening shifts as the club’s schedule demands. This role also entails maintaining cleanliness and proper operation of kitchen equipment and tools, accurately weighing ingredients, adjusting oven settings, and recommending new recipes to enhance the menu offerings. Familiarity with professional kitchen appliances such as mixers, blenders, and dough sheeters is required to ensure efficiency. The Baker will also need to monitor food supplies and place orders as necessary to maintain a well-stocked kitchen.

Job Duties

  • Clean kitchen equipment and tools before use
  • weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough
  • adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking
  • mix various ingredients to create fillings for cakes and pies
  • decorate cakes with glazes, icings, buttercream and edible toppings such as flowers
  • shape dough to prepare different types of pastries including croissants, cookies and sweet rolls
  • prepare custom-made pastries based on customers’ preferences
  • recommend recipes to enhance menu items
  • track food supplies and place orders as needed
