The role of the Assistant General Manager at Avion Hospitality is crucial for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the hotel in the absence of the General Manager or Manager on Duty. This position serves as a vital link between the hotel’s operating departments and senior management, focusing on optimizing productivity, enhancing guest satisfaction, and supporting the hotel's financial goals. The Assistant General Manager supervises departments including Guest Services, Food and Beverage, Engineering, Accounting, Sales, Housekeeping, and Food Production to guarantee operational efficiency and adherence to company standards. This role demands a proactive leader skilled in problem-solving, team development, and compliance with corporate policies, while simultaneously championing a guest-centric culture.

In addition to managing operations, the Assistant General Manager plays an active role in revenue generation strategies and cost control measures. They collaborate closely with the General Manager and department heads, ensuring that training programs are implemented, employee performance is monitored, and corporate deadlines are met. This hands-on management approach includes engaging personally with guests, supporting the sales team, and fostering a positive, team-oriented working environment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in hotel operations
  • Proficiency in Windows operating systems
  • Ability to work long hours, typically 50 hours per week
  • Physical ability to stand for entire shifts
  • Ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds occasionally
  • Strong mental acuity for problem evaluation and decision making
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to assimilate complex information from multiple sources
  • Ability to handle stressful and high-pressure situations
  • Willingness to work varied schedules as needed

Job Qualifications

  • At least 5 years progressive experience in a Rooms or Food and Beverage hotel department
  • Or 4-year college degree and 2 to 3 years hotel experience in relevant departments
  • Or 2-year college degree and 3 to 4 years hotel experience in relevant departments
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Proficiency in Windows operating systems
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure
  • Familiarity with hotel financial information and report generation
  • Knowledge of service operations and compliance standards

Job Duties

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with company standards
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Comply with company rules and regulations including safety standards
  • Supervise hotel operations in absence of General Manager
  • Communicate and correct deficiencies in hotel departments
  • Assist General Manager in revenue generation and employee development
  • Participate in sales efforts and client engagement
  • Ensure training and compliance with service standards
  • Oversee financial procedures including AR/AP, payroll, month-end closing
  • Enforce Preventative Maintenance and Deep Cleaning Programs
  • Maintain professional relationships and promote open communication
  • Support operations during peak periods
  • Complete required corporate training modules
