Job Description
Fogo de Chao is a renowned upscale Brazilian steakhouse chain that specializes in churrasco, a traditional style of Brazilian barbecue that features expertly grilled meats served tableside by professional gaucho chefs. With a rich heritage rooted in Brazilian culinary tradition, Fogo de Chao offers guests a unique and immersive dining experience centered on high-quality ingredients, exceptional service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. The company is dedicated to igniting fire and joy to care not only for its guests but also for its team members and the communities it serves. By fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and valued, Fogo de Chao is committed to feeding a purposeful future with opportunities for professional and personal growth at every level. The restaurant's core values of teamwork, integrity, excellence, humility, and the spirit of "Deixa Comigo" (we've got you!) guide every decision and interaction.
The Restaurant Assistant Manager at Fogo de Chao plays a crucial role in ensuring that the establishment delivers an unforgettable dining experience for every guest. This role involves overseeing daily restaurant operations, advising and supervising team members, and maintaining the highest standards of service and hospitality. The assistant manager is responsible for attracting, developing, and retaining a skilled team, using reservation systems like GuestBridge and OpenTable to manage dining logistics efficiently, and ensuring all staff hold valid food handler certifications. Additionally, this position promotes a culture of recognition among the team, resolves guest concerns promptly to guarantee satisfaction, and manages inventory, sales forecasting, and target setting to optimize operational efficiency.
The Assistant Manager also upholds the EcoSure program to maintain health and safety standards and ensures that all safety policies and procedures are communicated and strictly followed to protect both guests and team members. This role demands strong leadership competencies such as decisive judgment, the ability to adapt to change, effective planning and organizing, and a results-driven mindset. The assistant manager must also excel in guest service by understanding and exceeding guest expectations, managing and developing team members through coaching and mentoring, and fostering collaboration and resilience within the restaurant team. Familiarity with company policies, processes, and procedures is essential to set examples and maintain organizational standards.
Candidates for this position should bring at least five years of restaurant operations experience, preferably including three years with churrasco or churrascaria cuisine. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, while a bachelor’s degree in hotel or restaurant management is desirable. Proficiency in food planning, purchasing, sanitation, security, personnel management, and recordkeeping is expected, along with the ability to prepare detailed reports. The role may require occasional travel. Technological skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with systems such as Aloha Point of Sale, Hotschedules, Workday, GuestBridge, and MenuLink. Physically, the job demands the ability to frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and requires mental toughness to manage conflict and stress in a fast-paced environment.
Fogo de Chao offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance from the first month of employment for full-time team members, along with company-paid life insurance and short-term disability where allowed. Additional voluntary benefits are available, including critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident coverage, permanent life, and pet insurance. Committed to equal opportunity employment, Fogo de Chao is an E-Verify employer dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where team members can thrive.
