Job Description

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to mobilizing people and resources to drive research for a cure and address the challenges faced by everyone affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS). With a mission that spans funding cutting-edge research, advocacy for change, professional education, global collaboration with MS organizations, and providing meaningful programs and services, the Society strives to help those with MS and their families move their lives forward. They actively partner with volunteers, empowering them through effective communication, meaningful involvement, and feedback-driven growth and learning. This approach ensures a strong community connection and a dynamic environment that supports both volunteers and staff members, who collectively work towards the goal of ending MS.

This organization operates with a clear commitment to diversity and inclusion, encouraging a workforce that mirrors the communities it serves and fosters an environment where employees can bring their authentic selves to work. The National MS Society also prioritizes career development, using structured programs to help employees advance through leadership or expert pathways according to their strengths and aspirations.

The Assistant Director, Signature Events, is a pivotal role within the Society focused on the development and execution of high-impact fundraising events such as galas, luncheons, and cocktail parties. This position is based in Farmers Branch, TX, supporting the Southwest Region - South Central Chapter. It requires up to 50% travel, with the rest of the work performed remotely or at Society workspaces. Offering a competitive salary range of $60,000 to $65,000, this role supports the financial and strategic growth of the Society’s event fundraising portfolio.

Key responsibilities involve leading the planning, execution, and optimization of fundraising campaigns, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and innovation. The Assistant Director manages event logistics, recruits and oversees Event Chair and Committee members, and is accountable for revenue goals from inception to completion. Strategic adaptation of national campaign plans to local market dynamics ensures the department’s growth and effectiveness.

Success in this role depends on strong relationship-building skills with donors, volunteers, and internal stakeholders to cultivate lasting engagement and support. Data analysis and CRM utilization are integral to tailoring donor communications and fundraising strategies. Collaborative efforts across departments and compliance with data privacy standards are essential to maintaining professionalism and advancing the Society’s mission.

Candidates for this role should bring proven fundraising experience, excellent communication skills, proficiency in donor database systems like Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce, strong organizational abilities, and a passion for nonprofit development. The Society offers a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, holidays, a 401k plan with matching, commuter benefits, health, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, life and disability insurance, and mental health support through Spring Health Membership.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced nonprofit professional looking to make a significant impact through event fundraising, working within a mission-driven team dedicated to ending MS and improving lives worldwide.
