Job Description
WOLFoods, Inc. is an innovative and dynamic company dedicated to transforming the standard perception of camp food by replacing typical freezer-to-table fare with home-style scratch cooking. Operating summer camp kitchens across the country between May and September, WOLFoods partners with camps that are committed to providing campers with healthy, fresh, and delicious meals. The company emphasizes a balanced diet and green initiatives, educating campers on the importance of nutrition while offering diverse menu options that highlight cultural cuisine. This commitment to quality ensures that each meal contains freshly baked items prepared on-site by skilled bakers and pastry chefs in the camp bakery.
WOLFoods distinguishes itself through its dedication to personalized care, especially for campers with special dietary needs. The company is proficient in catering to a variety of diets including Kosher, Nut-Free, Gluten-Free, and Vegan, ensuring no camper is left without attention to their nutritional requirements. Beyond food, WOLFoods promotes a warm, community-oriented environment during the summer season, bringing together culinary professionals and campers alike in a rustic but supportive setting.
The available position is for experienced and motivated Bakers/Pastry Chefs to join WOLFoods’ team in a demanding, hands-on role within camp kitchens. This position requires living on-site at the camp location with room, board, and travel assistance provided, reflecting the immersive nature of the work. Bakers and Pastry Chefs must flawlessly execute the WOLFoods Camp Food Service Program by managing all culinary aspects related to the camp’s kitchen and bakery. This includes creating, implementing, and maintaining food service standards while ensuring cleanliness, comfort, and efficiency in fast-paced environments.
The role demands a sharp sense of urgency, excellent communication skills to interact professionally with children, staff, managers, and more, and the capacity to handle all culinary inquiries according to the WOLFoods Standards of Service Guidelines. Bakers/Pastry Chefs will be responsible for skilled scratch-made food production while supervising and coaching support staff. The job requires initiative, leadership, self-reliance, good judgment, teaching abilities, and effective delegation to maintain high service quality.
Applicants should be prepared for a minimum six-day, 70-hour work week, performing physical tasks such as standing for long periods, lifting heavy items (up to 50 pounds), bending, stretching, and working in varying temperature environments. A mandatory ServSafe Allergens Certification is required, which the company sponsors prior to camp start. The position also provides opportunities to develop specialized decorating skills, recipe development, and participation as kitchen supervisor when needed.
WOLFoods offers a competitive salary with a bonus system, transportation expense assistance, and seasonal summer contracts. This seasonal role is ideal for professionals seeking to embrace teamwork, community life, and the challenge of a high-volume commercial kitchen in a rural, rustic living environment. It is an excellent opportunity for culinary experts looking to expand their leadership, technical baking skills, and gain valuable experience in a unique and rewarding setting.
