Job Description
Wolfoods, Inc. is a pioneering company transforming the traditional concept of camp food by replacing standard freezer-to-table meals with home-style scratch cooking. Specializing in operating summer camp kitchens and dining halls across the country from May through September, Wolfoods partners with camps dedicated to providing campers with nutritious, fresh, and appetizing meals. Their mission focuses on elevating the camp dining experience into what they appropriately call Camp Cuisine. At Wolfoods, summer camp kitchens serve as an educational platform where children learn about balanced diets and environmentally friendly practices through thoughtfully prepared menus. The diverse menu options encourage campers to enjoy familiar favorites while also exploring new cultural cuisines, offering a unique culinary adventure during their summer experience.
Each meal under Wolfoods' operation is complemented with freshly baked items prepared onsite by professional bakers in dedicated camp bakeries. Breakfasts feature offerings such as a Morning Fruit and Yogurt Bar, while lunch and dinner include Salad Bars and carefully crafted entrees. Every detail is handled with great care, especially when accommodating special dietary needs such as Kosher, Nut-Free, Gluten-Free, or Vegan diets. These dietary accommodations are managed by trained chefs committed to ensuring no camper is left without personalized culinary care.
Wolfoods is currently seeking experienced, motivated, and capable Bakers/Pastry Chefs to join their summer camp culinary teams. This is a hands-on and demanding role that requires working onsite at the camp location, where room, board, and travel assistance are provided. Employees live within a community-oriented camp environment, often in rustic and rural settings, experiencing a summer filled with both challenges and chances for personal growth through teamwork and leadership in a fast-paced culinary operation.
Bakers and Pastry Chefs at Wolfoods are essential to ensuring flawless execution of the Camp Food Service Program. They play a critical role in creating, implementing, and maintaining culinary services at their assigned camps. These professionals are responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and comfortable kitchen and dining environments, delivering quality food with proper timing and quantity for all meal periods and special events. They must also communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders, including children, camp counselors, directors, dining hall staff, and other support personnel.
The ideal candidate thrives under pressure and possesses excellent leadership and organizational skills. They must demonstrate the ability to produce skilled scratch-made bakery items, supervise and mentor other kitchen staff, and maintain rigorous health and safety standards. Bakers/Pastry Chefs need to be proactive, use good judgment, and handle multiple responsibilities. These include inventory control, order assembly, recipe accuracy, staff management, client relations, and special diet preparations. Wolfoods recognizes the importance of fostering a collaborative environment that embraces continuous learning and growth, encouraging each culinary professional to bring their best to the camp community.
This seasonal position demands physical stamina and resilience, with the expectation of working a minimum 70 hours per week over at least six days. Candidates must be comfortable standing for long periods, lifting heavy items up to 50 pounds, and performing repetitive movements. Safety certification such as ServSafe Allergens is required, and Wolfoods offers company-sponsored certification for new hires. Beyond the culinary skills, this role is perfect for individuals seeking meaningful summer employment where they can both lead and be part of a close-knit team while enjoying the benefits of room, board, and travel assistance.
By joining Wolfoods as a Baker/Pastry Chef, individuals become part of a forward-thinking company dedicated to redefining camp food quality and service. They become instrumental in shaping the campers' food experiences, contributing to wellness, education, and enjoyment during their summer camp journey. Wolfoods offers competitive salaries, a bonus system, and seasonal contracts designed to make this opportunity both financially rewarding and personally fulfilling. Candidates interested in seasonal summer opportunities that blend culinary excellence with a vibrant community environment will find Wolfoods an exceptional employer and workplace.
