Job Requirements

  • Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate
  • Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance
  • Follow specific uniform guidelines
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of food preparation and sanitation
  • Ability to handle kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Capable of performing physical tasks including standing, walking, crouching, bending and lifting
  • Willingness to participate in hotel management training and courses

Job Qualifications

  • High school education preferred
  • Graduation from a culinary school or formal apprenticeship program recommended
  • Minimum three years of culinary experience in a comparable operation with supervisory responsibilities preferred
  • Good knowledge of hot and cold food preparation
  • Proficient in sanitation standards and health codes
  • Ability to use kitchen equipment including slicers, mixers and grinders
  • Basic mathematical skills to understand recipes and measurements
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and variable temperature environments
  • Additional language skills strongly preferred

Job Duties

  • Train, oversee and coordinate kitchen staff in food preparation and presentation
  • Ensure proper receiving, storage and rotation of food products according to health regulations
  • Adhere to control procedures for cost and quality and update recipes
  • Assist in menu planning and ordering
  • Schedule culinary staff to maintain proper coverage and control payroll costs
  • Supervise daily cleaning of storage areas to maintain safety
  • Manage kitchen associates with a firm, fair and consistent leadership style
