Acquisition and Expansion

In July 2024, Saks' parent company, Hudson's Bay Company (HBC), announced the acquisition of luxury retailer Neiman Marcus for $2.65 billion.

This strategic move aimed to strengthen their position in the luxury retail market by combining resources and enhancing negotiating power with vendors.

The acquisition led to the formation of Saks Global, a new entity encompassing Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and other luxury assets.

The merger was supported by technology giants Amazon and Salesforce, who invested in Saks Global, providing technology and AI integration support.

Marc Metrick, CEO of Saks' e-commerce business, was appointed as the CEO of the combined company, leading the integration of the two luxury retailers.

Locations

As of July 2025, Saks operates its flagship store in New York City, New York, USA.

The company also expanded internationally with stores in Canada, including:

• Toronto
• Calgary

However, in March 2025, it was announced that Hudson's Bay would liquidate and shutter two of the three Saks Fifth Avenue locations in Canada and all 13 Saks Off 5th locations in Canada.

Liquidation sales began shortly thereafter, with locations permanently shuttered by June 2025.
