Orangetheory Fitness is a global boutique fitness studio franchise offering a unique, science-backed workout designed to boost metabolism, build lean muscle, and burn calories.
Founded in 2010 by exercise physiologist Ellen Latham along with Jerome Kern and David Long, the first studio was established in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The Orangetheory workout is a one-hour session combining cardiovascular and strength training exercises.
Participants are divided into two groups: one focuses on treadmill exercises while the other engages in strength training or rowing.
This interval training keeps the heart rate in specific zones to maximize calorie burn and muscle development.
Each participant wears a heart rate monitor that provides real-time data displayed on screens within the studio, allowing individuals to track their performance and progress.
Company Growth and Expansion
As of 2023, Orangetheory Fitness has expanded to over 1,500 studios across 50 U.S. states and 24 countries worldwide.
In February 2024, Orangetheory Fitness merged with Self Esteem Brands, the parent company of Anytime Fitness.
This merger created one of the world's largest fitness center franchise chains with over 7,000 locations globally.
