New Opportunities Inc. (NOI) is a non-profit community action agency dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for economically disadvantaged individuals across Connecticut. Established in 1964, NOI serves the Greater Waterbury, Meriden, and Torrington areas. It offers a comprehensive array of social service programs aimed at eliminating poverty and fostering self-sufficiency.

NOI's mission is to improve the quality of life for economically disadvantaged individuals by providing the necessary resources to increase their standard of living. It fosters self-improvement and maximizes self-empowerment to help individuals achieve success.
Service Programs
NOI offers a variety of social service programs, including:
- Community Services: Therapeutic services for foster children, work readiness assistance, employment training, and case management for low-income individuals.
- Early Childhood Development: NAEYC-accredited centers that promote school readiness for infants and children aged 6 weeks to 5 years, offering educational, health, nutritional, and social services.
- Housing: Homeless shelter and rapid re-housing services to support individuals and families in need.
- Family Empowerment: Rental assistance, case management, SNAP outreach, and fatherhood programs to promote empowerment.
- Elder Services: Nutritional services including hot meals for seniors, and homecare services like the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Foster Grandparent Program, and Senior Companion Program.
- Employment Services: Vocational rehabilitation for youth and adults, including training and job opportunities in manufacturing through programs like Connecticut Manufacturing Assistance Center (C-MAC) and Connecticut Center for Advanced Rehabilitative Employment Services (C-CARES).
- Energy Services: Administration of Connecticut Energy Assistance Program and weatherization services to help reduce household energy consumption.
